Putting Baby To Sleep
We had problems with Daniel’s sleeping habits. At night, he wants to be held and lulled to sleep but wakes up as soon as I put him down. He has been keeping his nanny awake throughout the night and when he sleeps, it doesn’t usually last for more than three hours. As expected, he would be sleeping during the day when everyone else is awake.
My husband and I want what’s best for Daniel. We know that it’s vital to make wise decisions for his benefit as early as possible. Of course getting parenting advice wouldn’t hurt. In fact, it is a good way to start but if some things go out of hand, you should be flexible to try something new. Try to see what will work best for you and your baby, such as doing different things during bedtime. You’ll find out that your baby is unique. In my case, I would usually sing for Daniel at night so as early as two months old, he already has a favorite song, which puts him to sleep fast!
You can also try to change your baby’s feeding time or check if his pajamas are soft and not too scratchy. Otherwise, see to it that you use special detergents made just for baby clothes. You can also hang his clothes and beddings out in the sunshine to dry. Sun-dried clothing can make him feel very comfortable when going to sleep. Since we use a laundry service, I just see to it to press baby’s clothes before he wears them. You also need to make sure that there are no bugs or critters in his bedding or clothes to so he stays comfortable all the time.
We also make sure to bathe Daniel at night then feed him after. I am also fond of holding and playing with him right after his bath time and he always likes it! I find it relaxing for both of us so I take advantage of it while he’s still young.
If the baby gives you a hard time during the night when you try to make him go to sleep, start your rituals early on so that it won’t be long before he actually sleeps. The rituals will eventually tire him and indicate bedtime for your baby, as you tuck him into bed.
