We love Hong Kong. It’s the nearest foreign city from Manila that offers everything that we like: authentic Chinese noodles, succulent seafoods, lush cordilleras, shopping malls, and the excitement of being lost in translation while trying to figure out which MTR to take.

We visited HK recently for a little R&R. We also wanted to see places that we weren’t able to visit last year and some “alone time” even for just a few days. We also met some friends from my husband’s business school. On our first night, we dined at the famous Revolving 66 Restaurant, checked some goods at the Temple Night Market along Temple Street, and went on a harbour cruise.

We definitely recommend going to Revolving 66 Restaurant. Located on the 62nd floor of the Hopewell Center (one of the tallest buildings in Hong Kong), it boasts of a vast spread of international cuisine that promises to please every palate. It sure satisfied ours as we feasted on Chinese, Japanese, and Western Cuisine. Since we want to be more adventurous with food this year, we tried almost everything. My personal favorites were the shrimps, sushi and sashimi, and the escargot (although I prefer the local version better). We suggest you try to taste as much of the various food served there!

While dining, we had a great view of Hong Kong Island at night. True to its name, the restaurant does revolve so that you will see Hong Kong lights in all their magnificent glory. If the timing is right, you’ll also witness the Symphony of Lights– which happens everyday at 8PM– right from the 62nd floor of the tower. You can also savor the exhilarating ride up and down the bullet elevator, which is the only means for you to go in an out of the restaurant.

After dinner, we joined the local crowd and strolled along Temple Night Market in Kowloon. We didn’t stay there for long since we’ve been there before.

Then it was time for the harbour junk cruise. The cruise guide obviously knows Hong Kong like the palm of his hands. It was informative and we learned a lot about Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong’s history in general. Cocktails are served free while on board, so this is definitely a good place for a night cap. But since it was (still is) winter in HK while we were there, we didn’t fully enjoy the cruise because it got too cold.

Our first night was jam-packed with activities but we loved every minute of it. We recommend these activities for everyone to try when they visit Hong Kong.
