Macau Wasn’t Bad at All

A-Ma Temple, Macau

I didn’t have much time to write about our travel last week because we’ve been doing so many things for the last couple of days after we arrived from Singapore. I didn’t even notice that my precious son was running out of milk.

Last week, while we were in Hong Kong, we decided to go to Macau just for a day. Before we embarked on this trip, we originally thought of spending three days in the much talked about region among vagabonds in the Philippines. The idea of scouring each sweatshop for rummage sale got me excited! I was also informed that designer brands are a dime a dozen in Macau so you could just imagine what I could get for $100! Until recently, in one of my regular check-ups, my OB told me matter-of-factly that there’s nothing to see in Macau– that the Fisherman’s Warf can be so hot on ordinary days and Macau itself is very hot. When I was about to leave her clinic, she warned me, “You better stay in Hong Kong.”

First Day in Hong Kong

A temple in Hong Kong

Yesterday proved to be very productive despite of inclement weather and the lack of umbrella to cover our heads. Days before we left Iloilo, we knew that HK will have marathon rainy days until the 18th. Fortunately, that didn’t dampen our eagerness to roam around and discover the many facets of the Melting Pot of Asia, where East meets West. Read more »

Our Hong Kong Itinerary

We are still sitting in the Mabuhay Lounge waiting for our delayed flight to Hong Kong to board. Earlier today, while at Greenbelt 3, I visited Power Books to check out some Hong Kong travel guides. Here are some of the things that we plan to do aside from the city and Macau tours. We are going to dine at The Peak Lookout which has an amazing panoramic view of Hong Kong harbor. We plan to visit the flower market on Flower Market Road in Kowllon. Of course a trip to Hong Kong has to include a visit to some factory outlets. This time around we plan to go to the outlets located at Spring Garden Lane also in Kowloon. My parents want to buy some electronic goods. So, we’re going to take them to 298 Computer Zone, Broadway Shop 714-15 (Apple Computer central) and Photo Scientific Appliances. After all that shopping and sightseeing, I think I’m ready to head on to Singapore.

Off to Hong Kong

I don’t like to travel when it rains. But it is. Hard. With thunderstorms.

We are at NAIA’s Mabuhay Lounge, waiting for our flight to HKG. Our plane doesn’t leave until 2:20PM, which means we still have some 30 minutes to read magazines, eat carbs and surf the Internet. The Mabuhay Lounge is a convenient place for people like us who need to do last-minute emails [as if we couldn't do it abroad] to associates [read: wedding planner and writers] and family members. Actually I’m not doing any of that. Read more »

Meralco and the Juday TV Ad

I got this email from a friend and I though this is a very good analysis of the Juday’s ad about Meralco’s Sytem Loss.

by Resti Reyes

I normally shy away from political issues such as the ongoing war between the Lopezes and Meralco on the one hand and the GSIS and the government on the other. But this issue has crossed over into the media battlefield. That makes it now a media issue that can be covered openly by other media. I have friends in ABS-CBN, and if I am to be a true friend to them, I owe it to them to point out the mistakes their camp is making on this issue. And as a media entity, they need to realize the consequences when they allow themselves (and their stars) to be used as pawns by their sister companies to fight their battles for them. Read more »
