Black is beautiful
We finally decided on our color motif which is black with streaks of cranberry red and gold. Some couturiers find it daring and different especially here in the Philippines where most people are still conservative and superstitious. Some even equate black with death but that’s so passe already since most people now wear white at the funeral.
So why black? First and foremost, we’ve been wanting to have an elegant wedding and there’s nothing more elegant than black and red. We also want it to be different unlike the usual traditional and boring Filipino wedding with pastels and neons as color motifs.
It’s also a themed wedding and since we are huge fans of the Beatles and classic movies, we thought it would be great to have a vintage Hollywood Oscars theme. Think Grace Kelly, Jackie O, Rita Hayworth, and Audrey Hepburn. Plus, I love the hairstyles in the old times since they have more personality. And who doesn’t love vintage anyway?
We are busy planning our church wedding these days so we’ve set aside some things that we were suppose to do because of this upcoming event. Amarind and I discovered a lot of commonalities while planning our wedding and we’ve been doing things together like going to the gym, South Beach, and voice lessons.
Tomorrow, we are off to Negros Occidental to visit three cities that showcase their colonial houses.
I absolutely love your chosen color theme! I am sure your wedding will be beautiful!
Hi! Just sharing my thoughts. I also had a black-themed wedding. It’s true that most Pinoys are still superstitious when wearing black in weddings but there are some who accept it openly. Even our priest didn’t oppose! =)
Good luck!
