Of Course You Can Use The iPhone In The Philippines!

I just finished posting this entry last night before my blog crashed. Fortunately, it’s a videoblog so I still have the video demo on YouTube.

Anyway, I’ve been using my iPhone here in Makati for some time now. I have to make it clear though that you cannot use the phone, SMS and YouTube features of the iPhone as they are only exclusive to AT&T users. The rest are working fine. If you need to be connected to the Internet most of the time, the iPhone is a very helpful gadget. We use it ot check the stock market, e-mails, log-in to YM, Google Talk, Skype, browse news, listen to music on the iPod and it’s a very convenient digicam (2.0 megapixels).

Here are some of the things you need to know if you want to buy and iPhone and use it in the Philippines.

1. Know that when you buy it brand new, it’s NOT yet activated. The normal activation process is through AT&T and you do that through iTunes. Since we have no use for AT&T here, we had to look for a hack online to activate the iPhone.

2. Once you have successfully activated the iPhone, you’d get to enjoy tit except the phone, SMS and YouTube.

3. In order to browse the Internet, you need to have access to the wireless Internet. It automatically connects to any available air port around you. We have our own wifi in our house so I can access the web through the iPhone anywhere.

4. If you wish to enjoy other programs, there are a lot that are available online. The authors also provide step-by-step guides on how to install.

Anyway for you to have an idea on what features you can enjoy here in the Philippines, I recorded my husband doing the demo of the iPhone. His voice is kinda loud and I’m a novice in video editing but i hope you enjoy what we prepared!
